Vice President of Human Resources

Ms. Battles brings more than 20 years of Human Resources leadership to the Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS).

Prior to accepting the Vice President of Human Resources position on a full-time basis, Ms. Battles served as the interim Vice President since April of 2005. During that time, she provided HR leadership on a variety of projects, including working with hospital benefits administration to communicate and implement "on line" enrollment for open enrollment next year, and partnering with the DCHS hospitals and legal counsel to negotiate mutually beneficial contracts with various nursing unions.

Additionally, as a consultant, Ms. Battles provided human resources leadership as the VP of Human Resources during the closure of Robert F. Kennedy Medical Center in Hawthorne, California last winter.

Ms. Battles' career includes serving as Administrative Director of Human Resources at Beverly Hospital in Montebello, and working with the HR team at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena during the development of the Southern California Healthcare System, where they successfully merged benefits, pay practices and policies with five member hospitals. Ms. Battles has worked as a consultant in hospitals during mergers and acquisitions, she has prepared for successful JCAHO surveys, developed recruitment strategies and closed hospitals.

Ms. Battles received her Bachelor of Arts degree from San Jose State University. She is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and the Healthcare Human Resources Management Association.
